Purpose of CAC Mixer: Drop in for for complimentary refreshments and beverages, connect with your CAC parent statewide parent leaders, and unwind after a long day!
How to prepare: CAC members are encouraged annually place on the CAC agenda the topic of SELPA Legislative Day to communicate to the SELPA Administration that you would like CAC members to attend the event in Sacramento with their SELPA directors. SELPA Legislative Action Day is an annual statewide event sponsored by the SELPA Administrators of California.
How does SELPA Legislative Action typically flow? Agendas are provided to CACs by the SELPA administrator closer to the event start date. Generally, in the morning, there are special presentations by SELPA leadership, state policy leaders, SELPA administrators, and CAC parents. In the afternoon, everyone visits the Capitol building to meet with legislators. The CAC Mixer event (hosted by our CACLC group) follows, where CAC parents network and discuss important statewide topics and priorities. For more information about becoming a member of CACLC, visit the Home Page on our website and select the sign up buttons for Facebook and/or our Google group.
Sponsorship Opportunity: The CACLC is an all-volunteer group, and therefore, our events are made possible through donations or paid by our volunteer organizers. To help support the important work of special education/CAC parent leaders, please register on the event page where you can make your donation.
